[ ahsoka is cross-legged, going through her meditation exercises. it was never her strongest point as a padawan. much like anakin, she never enjoyed it much. when the jedi died, her teachings were all she had left and they calmed the storm within. now she makes it a habit to come to the gardens, where life still blooms in the stillness of space and reach out to the force.
[ Something even beyond the call of one Jedi to another, someone hurting, someone needing comfort and familiarity and likeness, all of it together couldn't quite explain that other thing that compels Rey to come to Ahsoka's call.
Her expression is serious, thoughtful, but her eyes when she meets the other Jedi are kind and understanding.
She nods, gesturing to the space beside Ahsoka, a quiet ask of permission to join her. ]
[ which leaves her open. rey is stronger for it. ahsoka is no longer so open. no longer reaches out to touch that connection as much. it just leaves her bruised and aching for stars that no longer hang in the sky. ]
I'm glad you came. It's . . . nice to talk to someone who feels the same things I do.
[ The Force is strong within her, and when she looks to Ahsoka through what little she does keep connected, she can feel sadness so deep and so aching, it leaves her hollow with a dull residual pain that scratches at her insides, her connection to the Force leaving her both open and vulnerable. It's different from the kind of cavernous empty that the Dark Side often offers her while she maintains her distance. Resists.
This sadness is born of love and loyalty and it makes Rey want to reach out and take Ahsoka's hand and smooth the bruises away — somehow. In a way she doesn't know how. But she can be here because Ahsoka's right, she does understand (being a part of something and then being apart from that thing), and so she is.
She nods. ]
I can feel your sadness, your loneliness. [ It isn't an accusation or anything more than a simple statement of fact. ] I'm sorry.
[ ahsoka doesn't look particularly shocked or upset. muted as she can be, she knows that her grief have carved groves into her, edges that bump along other people. she'll never be quite as she was, but she can be whoever she chooses to be.
she is a fulcrum now. her grief is a part of her, but it is not her. ]
It's all right. It is something I must bear but it is not the sum of me.
